Some Fries With That? Chapter5 by ~IceShrimp:iconIceShrimp:

.:Chapter 5~:.

So we made our way to the park, a place where I like to hang out.  I took the oportunity to talk with him and know him better already… I was trying to look the most natural possible anyway.  I didn’t want him to think I was interested... Well, not yet.  Maybe he would think that I was some weirdo wanting to get into his pants. Hey! That wasn’t true... I wasn’t a weirdo.

Oh well, anyway, all this just confirmed how sweet, cute, awesome, sexy and everything Roxas was.  Really.  Like in ‘never I’ve met someone like him’.  He just seemed to be the perfect guy for me.  Well, I’ve known this from the first time I saw him, but now it was clearer than it could be.

When we arrived, I knew Seifer would be there with /my/ ball.  So I just got it back and we went to the basketball court.  So we played some one on one and, contrary to what he had said, he was rather good.  Maybe even better than me... Maybe he was small, but that didn’t change that he had this crazy swing in the wrist.  Also, he was pretty swift and evaded each time I thought I was watching him.

“Hey man, I thought you said you weren’t one big player.” I said, leaning on my knees trying to catch my breath.

“I guess I have it naturally.” He said, scratching the back of his head as he took sharp breathes.

“Hey, wanna play a game?” I said, when I was finally able to breath normally.

“Wasn’t what we were going?” Roxas said, as the corner of his lips curved lightly.

“Yeah, but something...more interesting.” I said mysteriously.

“Oh really? What is it?”

“We ask each others questions.  Whatever it is.  From the most stupid to the most shameful.  And then, you place yourself just there, away from the basket, and shoot.  If the ball gets in, you don’t have to answer the question.  But if it doesn’t get in...” A devious smile plastered my face.

“I get it.” He said. “Alright, who’s first?”

So, we started playing the game.  I began with some ordinary questions, nothing much interesting.  We were enough far from the basket so that our balls didn’t get in too easily, luckily for me; otherwise our little Roxas wouldn’t have answered any of my questions... And the ones I really wanted to be answered were coming...

“Okay, next one... Um...” I said, trying to look like I was searching. “You ever had a girlfriend?”

“Aw, man, you’re getting on more interesting ones now...” He said, catching the ball I just sent him.

He shot.  The ball flied, bounced and rolled on the circle...and finally fell on the floor.

“Crap.  Um, well...” He started, his cheeks turning a bit redder.  “I’ve kinda...gone out with a girl for like one week.  But she then stopped talking to me, just like this, not even saying her reasons.”

“Really? Wow... That really sucks.  You had any another one?” I asked.

“Um, no not really.” He said, sighing and shrugging. “Anyway, my turn.  Um... You ever lied to someone you liked? If yes, what was it about?”

I caught the ball he shot back to me.  I threw the ball and missed by one inch.

“Um, if yes, it wasn’t something important…or just saying to Demyx that whatever he was saying was interesting… But anyway, I think it’s pretty important to be honest, you know? Like, how can you trust someone otherwise? Okay, some people say that some things are better left unsaid, but there’s always a way to say things so it won’t hurt the people around.”

I stared at him.  He seemed kinda awkward suddenly... Did I say something wrong? But then, he just shrugged it off and nodded at me.  It shouldn’t be something important then…

“Well, my turn.  Have you...ever disobeyed your parents?” I asked.

He smiled at my question as he shot the ball...looking like he didn’t want to take great care about scoring.  He missed it.

“Oh yeah.” He simply said.

“...Like?”

“It wasn’t the question, Axel.” He said, the corner of his lips curved in a teasing smile. “My turn anyway.  What moment made you feel the most stupid?”

Oh, my cutie could also ask question somehow embarrassing.  The only moment that I could remember at that single moment which made me feel really stupid was when I first saw him at the restaurant... I wasn’t going to say that, right?

So I shot, the best I could...and it was worth it, because I shot in.  I flashed a huge grin in his direction, earning a roll of his cute eyes and a small laugh.

“Okay, now.  What did you do to desobey your parents?”

And finally, my blonde shot in the basket.  It had to happen.  I was soooo wondering why it didn’t happen very often...  A moment ago, he was owning me at this game!  He smiled the same way I just did, making me laugh.

“Okay... So, um... Let’s see...” He said, thinking. “Who was your last date? Even if I have soooo little chances to know this person...”

I smiled.  He knew my last date... It was Demyx.  But did I want him to know it yet?

I took the ball and shot.  Unbelievably, I had the chance to get two balls in a row in the basket.  And two questions I didn’t really want to answer left unanswered!

“And my turn again.  Have you...” I said remotely.  I had something in mind... “ever tried or thought of dating a boy?”

His eyes widened a bit.  I threw him the ball and he readied himself to shoot.  I really wanted to know.  And I was going to know... I watched him concentrate and just before he shot...I let out a loud cough, just enough to make him lost his concentration.  The ball completely passed beside the basket.  The blonde turned to look, well glare, at me...but still, I could see it wasn’t a mean glare.  A smile grew to my lips, a playful one.

“Hey! You made me miss it! You cheated man!” He said, rolling eyes at my grin.

“Nah... I was testing your concentration just there... Looks like you gotta work on this, my dear.” I said, shaking my head in fake-disbelief. “And the answer is..?”

“So you really wanted to know?” He said, looking straight into my eyes, sending a small shiver down my spine.

I hold my hands up and tried to look innocent, but I knew very well that wasn’t convincing at all.  Oh well, at least I was going to know.

“I never dated a boy.” He simply said.

I nodded at this statement.  Somewhere inside me, I felt something squeezing.  Somehow, I had less chance already...

“But...” Roxas said, a strange smile growing on his lips. “I’ve thought about it seriously.”

My heart jumped in my chest.  I’m serious, it jumped.  Was he implying subtly that he might be interested in me? Or was it just me? I didn’t move at all.  I just stayed there like a dumb, with my mouth opened...in a dumb manner.  Doh.  I suddenly popped out of my thoughts as Roxas started talking again.

“Well...if you don’t have any problem with that...” He said shyly.

“No, no, no! I don’t have any problem!” I said hurriedly.

I must have looked like someone disgusted...while it’s completely the contrary.  Gawd, Axel you’re stupid sometimes.  So I smiled at him, maybe even seductively, trying to make it up for the awkward moment.  A somehow timid smile pulled up on the corner of his lips making him even cuter, if possible, of course.

“Have another question?” I asked, taking the ball on the ground.

“You’re dating boys, aren’t ya?”

I didn’t even look where I shot the ball.  I didn’t care.

“Hell yes, well even if girls sometimes cross my road....”

“So you’re swinging both ways?” He said, more like a statement than a question.

“Whoa, looks like Roxy understands pretty fast.” I said teasingly.

“Oh yeah... I make links pretty fast.” He said, smirking.

“Like what?”

“Oh well, I’m sure you’re smart enough to make them too, Axel.”

Oh gawd, why couldn’t I stop smiling the whole time? And were all these overtones what I was thinking? Was he...kinda flirting with me? Gawd.  Wait... No... No.  I wasn’t blushing, was I? Crap.

“You have a last question now before I return home?” He asked, with his cute voice.

“Yeah.  Can I walk you home?”

He took the ball and shot without looking at all.  The ball flew throught the basket, but Roxas didn’t care.  He was staring at me with a smile.

“You didn’t have to ask.”

My cheeks burned a bit more at this, as I cursed at myself in my head for blushing.

Roxas’ POV

Very smart, Roxas.  How come you didn’t think before talking? ‘You didn’t have to ask.’ Why did you have to flirt that way with Axel anyway!? You let your guards down and what have you got now? You got him to walk you /home/.  What you didn’t want to be discovered was going to be placed in light evidently in front of your sexy red-head.  Brilliant, Roxas.  Really.  What are you going to do, now? He will walk you home.  See your HUGE house.  Be like “Oh my god! You’re kidding me! You must be wealthy and everything! I mean, look at your house!” Then, he’ll hang around you just because he thinks you’re rich and all.  After, he notices you don’t even get a penny from your parents and goes away from you.  And you, Roxas, will be heartbroken...again.

We turned on my street and I was feeling pretty tensed now.  I could already see my house.  Well, it wasn’t hard to miss anyway.  It was enormous compared to the little house just beside.  Sora’s house.  Oh gawd.  Roxas, are you thinking what I’m thinking? Of course, yes.... You’re me.  Am I enough deseperate to do that?? ... Definitely, yes.

“Whoa, you see this huge house? Must be some fancy wealthy people living there.” He said.

“Hum? Oh, yeah.” I said, trying to look the most natural possible. “I live just the house beside.”

“So that’s where we’re leaving each other...”

“Yup...”

We looked at each other for a moment.  Then, Axel started to search for something.  He finally got a pen out of nowhere and pulled on my hand, writing on it.  When I got it back, I could see a phone number...with a little heart? I smiled at it before looking back at emerald eyes.  I waved him goodbye, walking slowly on the pavement of Sora’s house, hoping Axel was going to leave.  But he stayed there looking at me.  Crap. That wasn’t your brightest idea, Roxas, you know? I approached the door, knocking on it subtly so Axel couldn’t see any of this.  Ususally, you don’t knock at your own house, you know? I looked back at him, smiling a last time to him.  Finally, I heard noises from the other side of the door.

“Roxas? What are- owww!” Sora said, but was interrupted by a –subtle- kick on his shinbone.

“Smile and wave.  I’ll answer the questions inside.” I muttered, as I waved and smiled back at Axel.

Sora did the best smile he could and finally let myself in.  He closed the door and I let a long sigh of relief.

“Aw man, what’s the big deal?” he said, making me feel comfortable at once.

“Long story...”

“Wanna have something to drink? You’ll have plenty of time telling me everything.”

And with that, he just turned around, heading for –I supposed- the kitchen.  Well, he deserved explanations...
